The ACT Disability Directed Advocacy Caucus which includes Advocacy for Inclusion, Women with Disabilities ACT and ACT Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disability has welcomed the broad outline of the ACT Budget handed down by Treasurer Chris Steel MLA which included funding for community services and co-design work on the new foundational support system and the Inclusion Bill, as well as improved health infrastructure, community facilities and transport access. The caucus notes the need for additional work in sustaining disability advocacy and investments which deliver the full intent of the ACT Inclusive Education Strategy. We also continue to see a need for better government capability to deliver disability reform. Finally, the Caucus noted the need for more focus and resource toward primary prevention on domestic and family violence.
