Join us in creating a space to connect, share and grow!
Advocacy for Inclusion has launched our Welcoming Community Program – a peer-led initiative designed for older people with disability to build new connections, grow confidence and improve self-advocacy skills.
❓Participants of the program will determine the topics explored by the groups. These may include:
- Becoming a self-advocate
- Finding inclusive and accessible opportunities
- Exploring a new hobby or interest
- Becoming a peer supporter or community leader
🧩Structure: The program will run over six months, with two-hour sessions fortnightly.
📍Location: Two programs will run concurrently, delivered both in-person (Salthouse Community Centre in Braddon) and online (open to anyone in Australia).
⏱️When: Our next round of in-person sessions will commence in early 2026.
📝 Eligibility Criteria: Open to anyone who identifies as having a disability, with preference given to older people, people not on the NDIS and people who are socially isolated.
💰Cost: This is a free program with all resources included.
If traveling to the in-person sessions will be a barrier for you, please get in touch with us on welcome@advoaccyforinclusion.org or 02 6257 4005.
