About I-DAY 2025

International Day of People with Disability, or I-Day, is held every year on 3 December. In the ACT, I-Day is community controlled and led by people with disability. Advocacy for Inclusion hosts the I-Day Steering Committee with Women with Disabilities ACT.

What is I-DAY

I-Day is a United Nations-observed day that recognises the rights and contributions of people with disability. In the ACT, we treat I-Day as a year-round effort. We work with communities, businesses, arts, sports, education, and government so that people with disability can participate in everyday life. The highlight is 3 December.

The ACT is the first jurisdiction where I-Day is community controlled. People with disability lead the design, decisions and delivery. The Steering Committee sets direction. Advocacy for Inclusion provides the secretariat and the I-Day Project Officer. Women with Disabilities ACT co-chairs the Committee. The ACT Government supports the program.
